Upgraded bolts for improved productivity

2009-07-15

Atlas Copco’s well known Swellex Connectable rock bolts have been upgraded, making them faster, easier, safer and more effective than ever.

This is a 200kN rock bolt consisting of three parts, a lower, middle and an upper section which can be assembled to almost any length.

In addition, a new welding technique and quality control has resulted in an improved connector that is totally leak-proof and gives a perfect installation every time, irrespective of the rock conditions or the extent of water flow. Compared to deep anchors, this new Swellex Connectable system gives miners more flexibility in following the blasting sequence and controlling the dilution.

For this reason, explains Mario Bureau, Product Manager Swellex, the upgrade will be welcomed by all rock reinforcement engineers. “I believe this new Swellex Pm24C bolt offers exactly what our customers have been looking for,” he explains. “We are confident that it will make a substantial contribution to improving productivity as well as safety.”
